Just document that this is how it's to be used, but leave the user the
freedom to do what he wants.

U-Boot follows the goold old principle:

"UNIX was not designed to stop you from doing stupid things,  because
that would also stop you from doing clever things."       - Doug Gwyn

Let's keep it that way. There are some of your users out there who
appreciate if they can do clever things.
