I am aware of these issues. AT91 is indeed in a poor shape.

Also, it's still lacking a custodian.

Nobody volunteered for this job so far. Seems AT91 is not much used
any more these days ?

Every program has at least one bug and can be shortened by  at  least
one instruction - from which, by induction, one can deduce that every
program can be reduced to one instruction which doesn't work.
