The sorting does not take much:

	-> size lib/qsort.o  
	   text    data     bss     dec     hex filename
	    264       0       0     264     108 lib/qsort.o

The hashing on the other hand might be replacable.

Yes, this is one common use case.

But then, I see also systems that are running pretty complex shell
scripts to implement features like reliable software updates etc., and
there we see an improvment.


Also, speed is just one aspect - for me the capability of having
several "profiles" is much, much more important.
