[ELDK] yosemite's UBOOT unable to boot vanilla linux kernel (2.6.27-rc6) due to inflate() error?

hi,

U-Boot version is 1.1.4, kernel version is 2.6.27-rc6, config is almost
identical to 

make ARCH=powerpc ppc44x_defconfig 

with only yosemite board support.

after the kernel is built, kbuild create cuImage.yosemite under
arch/powerpc/boot, and I'm using that file for booting (uImage is a
symlink to cuImage.yosemite)

here is the way how linux reate cuImage.yosemite:

mkimage -A ppc -O linux -T kernel -C gzip -a 0x00400000 -e 0x0040045c -n
Linux-2.6.27-rc6 -d arch/powerpc/boot/cuImage.yosemite.gz
arch/powerpc/boot/cuImage.yosemite

mkimage version is 1.2.0 but I also tried 1.1.4 both with the same
problem:

the board reboot continueusly due to error:

Uncompressing Kernel Image ... Error: inflate() returned -3

here is a sample session:
