YES

Sorry for shouting, but if you check the email archives of the ppc-boot 
(predecessor to u-boot), almost every discussion on hardware debugging has 
in it a recommendation to buy a BDI2000.  If the poor unfortunate had 
already bought something else, condolences were expressed and they were 
advised to give away the "something else" and buy a BDI2000.

It is possible to debug with "something else", but the bulk of the 
engineers here use the BDI2000 so you will get a lot more help here.  The 
reason for this is because Abatron is a very enlightened company, very 
responsive (last week I got an update overnight to support a new flash 
memory), supports linux very well (including kernel debug with MMU 
support), etc.
