Hi Wolfgang,
Thanks for getting back to me.

This is what is displayed when the board powers up (no bdi connected):
U-Boot 0.2.0 (Mar 24 2003 - 14:26:30)
IBM PowerPC 440 Rev. C
Board: IBM 440GP Evaluation Board (Ebony)
VCO: 800 MHz
CPU: 400 MHz
PLB: 133 MHz
OPB: 66 MHz
EPB: 66 MHz

I2c read: failed 4

FLASH: 4.5 MB

After this is displayed, u-boot does not respond to CR (or any
other characters) on the keyboard. The serial cable / port config
works fine with other systems (e.g. the IBM bootrom that I replaced
with u-boot). Do you know if u-boot uses hardware flow control?
I don't think that's a problem, but you never know. I'm using C-Kermit,
with these comm parms:
(/home/erikt/) C-Kermit>show comm
Communications Parameters:
Line: /dev/ttyS0, speed: 9600, mode: local, modem: none
Parity: none, stop-bits: (default) (8N1)
Duplex: full, flow: rts/cts, handshake: none
Carrier-watch: off, close-on-disconnect: off
Lockfile: /var/lock/LCK..ttyS0
Terminal bytesize: 7, escape character: 28 (^\)
Carrier Detect (CD): Off
Dataset Ready (DSR): Off
Clear To Send (CTS): Off
Ring Indicator (RI): Off
Data Terminal Ready (DTR): On
Request To Send (RTS): On
Latest News: I just turned off flow control in Kermit, and it works!!
Thanks for making me look at all the options.
Erik
