[U-Boot-Users] U-boot for ARM9

Hi,

We have a customer system that is based up the ARM9 (Freescale MC9328MXL 
or imx) microprocessor. I am invetigating if we could port the U-boot to 
fit into our boot. I have following questions:

1. Dose U-boot works without RTOS(Linux)?
2. What kind of configuration should I use for our system? (board & cpu).
3. If I don't have GNU compiler, can U-boot still be built with other 
compiler?
4. What are the initial steps should I look into to start U-boot building 
for imx processor?
