Any interest in picking up the following patches from this series for
the upcoming release:
1/6 Move architecture specific config.mk files into subdirs
5/6 Move examples/ to examples/standalone
6/6 Move api_examples to examples/api

They're pretty straightforward and are 3 less changes to carry around.
