Hello everybody:

* U-Boot v2010.09-rc2 was released on Sun, 19 Sep 2010.

* Release "v2010.09" is scheduled in 18 days - on September 28, 2010.

  For details please see
  http://www.denx.de/wiki/U-Boot/ReleaseCycle

Please help testing, and check if all your relevant patches have been
included.

We also have a new "next" branch now, which should be used as base for
any new stuff scheduled to be added for the next release (v2010.12).

Please NOTE: due to some issues with the ARM relocation patches I had
no choice but to rebase the "next" branch; sorry if this is causing
inconveniences.

Also NOTE: the relocation support that was added to the ARM
architecture (which brings it more in sync with the Power
Architecture, so there is hope we can merge some more [now] common
code) requires to adapt basicly all ARM boards. The changes are
relatively simple and straightforward, but require in-depth
understanding of the actual hardware - and testing, of course.

This is why the patches provided by Heiko cannot include all boards -
this is a task to be performeed by the respective board maintainers.
To make the task highly visible, compilation for this boards will
actually _break_. See the commit message for commit f1d2b313 "ARM:
add relocation support" and doc/README.arm-relocation for further
information (including adapting boards and debugging).

Boards that have not been adapted after some time (maximum 2 releases)
are considered to be unmaintained and dead and will be removed.

Best regards,

Wolfgang Denk
