The V2 patchset is based off the V1 patchset submitted below:

There was a request to break the patches out into logical incremental patches
which is what is done below.

All comments should have been addressed with v2 but I cannot give direct 1 to 1
history from V1 to V2 since the patchsets have been broken out.
