with firefly-rk3288_defconfig,

$ ./tools/mkimage -n rk3288 -T rksd -d spl/u-boot-spl-dtb.bin u-boot-spl-dtb.img
Warning: SPL image is too large (size 0x8435) and will not boot

and IDB area (0-0x7ff) in output is filled by 0x00. (0-0x1ff should have header)

$ gcc --version
gcc (Ubuntu/Linaro 5.2.1-23ubuntu1~14.04.2) 5.2.1 20151031
