Yeah, OK, good to know.  I might try something a tad more manual since
part of the problem here is that while --git-ref worked awesomely to get
all of the mx6/7/etc things right, it also didn't get the boards added
afterwards right.  I'll probably poke things a bit more afterwards to
make sure the defconfigs are really in sync properly with regards to
general changes.  Thanks!
