The QEMU arm virt maintainer seems less enthusiastic, but I agree it
is a useful idea. One might argue that it should work by enabling
nodes rather than making them out of whole cloth, or provide a way to
add/delete things, but at least it works in the common case.

But when you want to develop a new feature, where QEMU doesn't have a
node you need, or want to run qemu with SPL, what do you do? Just give
up? Go and hack QEMU?

Anyway, no one is making you to use the U-Boot devicetree, so don't
worry about it.
