Well, it's both, welcome to Allwinner :-D
This is what the manual says:
bits 7-6 & 3-0: IC Type NO.
010000: IC is AXP305
Others: Reserved
So it's a mess, and that number is not really unique (the AXP805 and
AXP806 also use the same bits), but it's just a safety measure to avoid
talking to the wrong device.
