This doesn't look like what I'd expect (but I tried the current code only).

This is completely wrong here.

I recommend: rety the build after runnin "make mrproper" first.
If this fails, then try using the current versionof U-Boot (top of
tree in CVS).
If this still fails, then try using a known-to-be-working toolchain
(like ELDK 3.1.1).
