[ELDK] USB Host Controller for the MPC8270

I am in need of a USB Host Controller device for the MPC8270 for the 2.4 linux kernel. On internet I found one, but this is only for version 2.6:

Therefor, I'm planning to backport this driver to 2.4. I would like to know if:
1. this is really feasible or not,
2. there is documentation available on writing usb host controller devices for 2.4 and 2.6. (There is a lot of documentation no usb device drivers, but not on host controller devices)
