[ELDK] Trouble porting uboot from ELDK 3.1 to ELDK 4.1

I am having trouble porting code from the ELDK 3.1 cross-compiler to the
ELDK 4.1 cross-compiler:

 

1.  When I cross-compile u-boot 1.3.4 on host using the ELDK 4.1
cross-compiler, I get: 

 

unrecognized option `-mips_allow_branch_to_undefined'

 

1a.  The whole error:

 

/opt/mipsELDK_4.1/usr/bin/../lib/gcc/mips-linux/4.0.0/../../../../mips-l
inux/bin/as: unrecognized option `-mips_allow_branch_to_undefined'

 

 

2.      When I cross-compile the same u-boot using the ELDK 3.1
toolchain, it compiles amd runs okay.

 

Any tips?

 

I am cross-compiling on the host, for a big-endian MIPS target (two
different hosts, one with ELDK 3.1, and another with ELDK 4.1)
