Why are you using such an  ancient  kernel  version?  This  makes  no
sense.  2.6.24 was before the big switch to arch/powerpc and contains
a _lot_ of things that have been fixed since. I  seriously  recommend
you  to  use  current  code, i. e. 2.6.30 or top-of-tree from the git
repository.
