As far as I can remember, there were always problems reported on the
PowerPC mailing list in connection to using ATA with DMA modes
(e.g. [1]).  Our latest experiences with 5200B shows that you may be
able to get around the problems by disabling bestcomm prefetching and
XLB snooping altogether.  Yes, I know what that does to performance ;)

In the meantime all of our relevant changes have been merged into
upstream, so you should try with the latest and greatest kernel from
mainline and report problems on the regular PowerPC mailing list:
