I think this extension needs some more work to make it more generally
usable for other media holding a DOS filesystem, but because of  lack
of  time I decided to add it as is (hoping somebody else will jump on
it).


Ummm... please make sure to run the MAKEALL script before  submitting
a  patch!!!  Your  patch broke support of a couple of boards (I fixed
this).
