I am stumped, again.

When u-boot comes up, "ide part" shows:

DbAu1x00 # ide part

Partition Map for IDE device 0 -- Partition Type: DOS

Partition Start Sector Num Sectors Type
    1                    0          501760      f8

but fdisk in Linux shows:

Command (m for help): p

Disk /dev/hdg: 16 heads, 32 sectors, 980 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 512 * 512 bytes

   Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hdg1             1         9      2288   83  Linux
/dev/hdg2            10        18      2304   83  Linux
/dev/hdg3            19       980    246272   83  Linux

Something else must still be in the wrong endian mode, but I can't figure
out what it is.
