Please fix your MUA, base64 is properly defined as encoding for MIME
messages (RFC 2045).

This will not help. According to RFC 1652 any MTA which supports the
8BITMIME extension have to make sure that another MTA which does not
support this extension get a 7bit clean message. It is not specified how
it should reencode the message. Most MTAs uses quoted-printable (if the
original encoding was not "binary"), but base64 is also perfectly valid.
