In a completely unrelated project, I found that upgrading my cygwin installation
to the latest gcc broke my project. I was able to fix the problem by downgrading
gcc to the previous version. You might want to downgrade to an earlier
installation of gcc to see if it helps. For me, 3.3.3-3 works, 3.4.4-1 doesn't.
