[U-Boot-Users] Git clone problems?

This seems to be a faq.  You need to use rsync, i.e.
git clone rsync://www.denx.de/git/u-boot.git u-boot-ours

I believe that git does not like fetching via http the ":" in the
referenced tag.  (Although it was evidently happy enough to create the
tag ;>).
