fw_setenv and fw_printenv are two standalone tools you can use in Linux
to adjust your U-boot settings, as long as you configured your board
support to store the environment in flash. The corresponding U-boot
commands are setenv/saveenv and printenv.
You are not re-writing u-boot itself, just the environment. If you do
not save your env in flash, but use everything hard-coded, I think
you'll need to re-burn your u-boot after changing the hardcoded values.
