[U-Boot-Users] RFC:new multi image format

How about a cpio archive?  While the cpio command is a mind
boggler for me the file format itself is very simple, which
is why it was chosen for initramfs images.  The content files
could have self documenting names and the MD5 or SHA1 sums
could go in .md5 and .sha1 files.
