Testing/development was done on the "master" branch, but I did verify
the series applies cleanly to the "next" branch.  The binaries generated
when using the "next" branch code "appeared" to work at a quick glance.
Let me know if you'd prefer to apply it to the "next" branch and I can
do a bit more testing quickly.
