[U-Boot] looking to get u-boot running on (old) MPC8280-based Mitel IP 3300 AX controller

rather than ask maddeningly vague questions about support for older
MPC processors, here's what a small group of us are trying to do --
get u-boot up and running on a MPC8280-based Mitel AX 3300 IP
controller, in preparation to (not surprisingly) putting linux on it.

i realize that there's probably not a lot of interest out there in
something that legacy, but once we get this done, we're happy to release
the solution into the wild if anyone else cares. we've already got u-boot
running on slightly more advanced examples of that platform -- the
MPC8360-based versions of the same controller -- so we just want to
finish off with the AX controller to complete the set.

i've already been digging around in older u-boot versions, checking
out the deprecated/removed MPC8260 support (as i understand it, that
would be compatible). so if anyone can point at a starting point that
would get an absolutely minimal u-boot up and running on this box, that
would be most excellent.

p.s. a high-level description of these controllers can be found at:

ftp://70.98.216.18/Mitel%20Software/MCD/3300icp_mcd6.0_htrm.pdf

i don't see the hardware reference manual online, though.

p.p.s. if anyone actually wants our work in getting u-boot on the
MPC8360-based controllers, i'm reasonably sure we can share it, i'd
just have to verify that first.
