That's a misunderstanding, or my fingers typed without consulting the
brain. Sorry.

What I mean is: storage devices  should  auto-initialize  when  first
used  (like  for  example Ethernet does, too), but an explicit "init"
sub-command should be also available, so the user  can  re-initialize
the system if he likes.
