As a small thing for future synchronization, basing on just the initial
release (not point release) or current -rc tag makes it easier later on.
There's no changes between v6.16 and v6.17-rc6 here so there's not any
changes between v6.16 and v6.16.7 here either, so in the end it's fine
and I may or may not reword a tiny bit when applying. Thanks.
