This is my thought as well.

I sent the "skipping registers" to Kiril after comparing U-boot code
against the bootlets. Will post later to the list.

Another important thing we currently miss in U-boot is the setting of
drive strength of DDR pins as done in bootlets.

Will try to work on this as soon as time permits.
